Sixteen years ago, he made his grand entrance, and life’s been a hilarious rollercoaster ever since. Now officially 16, eating everything in sight like it’s an Olympic sport, and giving me his “Mum, seriously?” look at least 10 times a day. But guess what? He’ll always be my little buddy - even when he’s taller than me, which, let’s be real, happened two years ago.
Seriously, who gave him the right to grow up, get so tall, and make me feel like the short one in family photos?
All jokes aside, Hristian is one of the funniest, smartest, and most genuinely kind humans I know.
Happy 16th, kiddo. You’re killing it at this whole growing-up thing, and I’m so proud of you!

Self-Consciousness.. Many teens are hyper-aware of how they look and may feel awkward or uncomfortable in front of the camera. They’re quick to critique their appearance, which can lead to stiff or overly posed photos. Creating a relaxed environment and offering genuine compliments can help break the ice.
Avoiding Clichés.. Teens want to look cool, but they also want to avoid looking forced or overly posed. Capturing authentic expressions and movements - whether they’re laughing with friends or lost in a favourite activity - can make all the difference. Letting them have input on poses and settings also helps them feel more in control.
Keeping It Natural.. Teens often respond best to natural, candid photos rather than anything that feels staged. Encourage them to bring a favourite item, wear what makes them feel comfortable, and even listen to music they love during the shoot. This approach brings out genuine smiles and relaxed body language.
Tips for Photographing Teens

Photographing children can be a delightful yet challenging task that requires patience, adaptability, and a good sense of humor.
Whether you're a professional photographer or a parent trying to capture a perfect moment, here’s why photographing kids is harder than it looks - and why those magical shots are worth the effort.
Unpredictable Behavior.. Kids don’t follow directions the same way adults do. They’re often energetic, easily distracted, and prone to unpredictable mood swings, especially if they’re tired or hungry. You might have them laughing one minute and running out of the frame the next! To work with this, photographers need to think on their feet, staying ready to capture spontaneous moments instead of relying on staged poses.
Getting Natural Smiles.. Kids can spot a forced smile request from a mile away, and “say cheese!” might end up giving you anything from a frown to a goofy expression rather than a natural smile. The best approach is to let kids be themselves - engage with them, make them laugh, or let them play. Genuine smiles often come out when kids are having fun rather than when they're posed.
